Supporting Maarten in the fight against cancer
Joyce Bijl( Lid van team: The Flying Dutchman Team )
I'm joining, as I'm one of the lucky ones that did survive this horrible disease and I'm forever thankful that the right treatment was available. Unfortunately that is not the case for everyone today hence the importance to keep on investing in research.
Cancer might took away temporary my physical abilities, it cannot touch my mind, my heart and my soul. Although I'm still far from the fitness level I used to have, I have been training to attempt to swim 3.8km, to bike 180km and to run/walk 21.1 on the 9th of January.
I will keep on fundraising till the 9th and do the best I can to support the fight against cancer. Every amount, small or big, will help to support this bigger problem.
Are you supporting me?
Lesson learned….. 🫣 1. Train properly 2. Don’t do a brunch the day before But isn’t it nice to push again 🙌
Absolutely breathtaking!
Quite, clean and lights are up already. Bit of elevation in it. If you are lucky, some camels, goats and donkeys to see towards to end too! Well done UAE to another safe place to cycling!
The body was exhausted but the heart is full! Some long and beautiful climbs, a lot of wind, sun and bonked pretty hard but nothing a Coke couldn’t fix. Took it easy, one hill at the time. Life is good 💕
All good until my brake cable snapped 😳
After weeks of indoor training in the aircon….. this was crap 😳
Even Garmin got confused…. Did a few more meters 😇
I guess you get what you trained for…… First 7km was head wind 💨, and from there it was crosswind all the way. Anyway, good data to re-start proper training again
Just on time for next weeks race. Didn’t push but shoulder was ok 💪
Another windy one and it seems it’s time to start a bit earlier again
Slowly starting to build up again would 7 weeks be enough to get back to 4km 😬
Great ride but a bit of a mental game with the wind picking up on the second loop!
You get what you trained for…. Time to get consistent again!
